Abstract
The Forest Fund of Greater Romania: A Comparative Approach Among Historical Provinces (According to the Unification Laws of 1925)
The Administrative Unification Law of 1925 created a single legal system for forest management throughout Greater Romania by uniting different forest management approaches from its historical provinces. The research demonstrates that the national forest fund spanned 7 million hectares, which represented 27% of the total territory yet forest coverage differed significantly between regions, with Transylvania and Maramureș reaching 35% and Bessarabia having only 7%. The research demonstrates how the law supported sustainable practices yet shows difficulties in implementing standardised rules across different local environments.
